I’m too busy!

How often do we say this when what we really mean is I can’t be bothered? It’s not a medal to feel proud about and I, like the most, have used this excuse. We live extraordinary busy lives where our days are monitored by pressures and demands on us rather than the qualities it gives. We push ourselves to perform or to justify our existence in the most archaic of manners without the first idea of its depth.

How can we justify such a statement?

As we progress with our self-development we will come to realise the weakness in such a statement. It’s not about competing or contradicting another’s ‘output,’ but nonetheless we tend to do just this, justifying our own plans and pressures as more demanding or of importance.

The next time we hear such words being said let’s really look at what lies behind them. Do we feel that by being so inordinately busy as to not be able to consider another’s request or suggestions makes us somehow more important or successful? Do we lack the will power to know when to stop? Are we lacking in self-belief?

Often the need to feel liked comes from the desire for success. We sort of can’t separate them and so push ourselves to great lengths to appear overly busy to somehow justify our true value of self. This often happens when as a child we’ve been pushed to succeed, or seen our hard working parents and taken that behaviour as a template for life.

By expanding on the characteristics this brings to the fore we can become far more considered and assured, balancing our needs for success with compassion and understanding for everyone else.

A far more pleasing result.

Autumn is here!

What with preparing our gardens for the winter and ensuring our homes are warm and comforting, little time is left for the more important aspects of self-development.

Often this time of year is full of anxieties about what lays ahead in terms of winter chill, darker days and precious little cheer in terms of hope for the future. Many of us tend to withdraw into ourselves more during these next few months than at any other time in the year, and so we need to find ways to contend with this.

Keeping things bright is imperative.  Lightening our own aspects is an important part of this as not only do we ‘wear’ the gloom, impacting detrimentally on everyone else, but we cover ourselves remorselessly with everyone else’s silt – it’s a no win situation.

So we need to find ways to keep ourselves from attracting this, thereby giving us the parenthesis from which to escape from it.

Firstly we need to consider what keeps us ‘bright’ and what matters the most to us. If we’re not sure of this then this is the first place to start.

Welcome to my new website!

The first of many blogs. It is always hard to know where to start, but the main thing is we have started.

Over the months and years we’ll come to build a comprehensive pathway to self-development that will incorporate many stages of learning. We’ll delve into new concepts and abilities that weren’t considered possible before, helping one another as we do.

Until we have a more user friendly website, I am happy to respond to comments or reply to specific enquiries through the ‘contact’ page.

Let’s make this something special together, and I look forward to hearing from you.
